VersOver was formed in February of 1997. After a few months of writing and rehearsing the band entered into the studio and recorded ENDURANCE, their first demo. After that VersOver hit the road for two solid years, continuously writing new material, and testing it before audiences. From July to October 1999 they then camped out at the HEAVEN studios and recorded the album LOVE, HATE AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN.
The debut album succeeded in capturing the attention of DIE HARD Records, and led to a recording contract, which was signed, between VersOver and the Brazilian label in April 2000.Soon thereafter DIE HARD arranged for the VersOver version of WARNING SIGN to be included on a "Tribute to TARANTULA" album, which as released via the Portuguese RECITAL label. VersOver then also recorded A LETTER TO OPHELIA for a heavy metal interpretation of Shakespeare's HAMLET, an album which will be released by MAUSOLEUM RECORDS in Europe in April 2004.
In 2001 VersOver toured Brazil with the likes of EDGUY, BLAZE BAILEY, ANGRA, and also appeared on several prestigious TV shows.
Early 2003 VersOver settled into the CREATIVE STUDIOS and recorded their second album: HOUSE OF BONES. The recordings were engineered by RICARDO NAGATA and PHILIP COLODETTI (known for their work with SHAMAN, KRISIUN and ETERNA), and produced by the band’s guitar player GUSTAVO CARMO. Lyrically the album is based on A CASA DES OSSOS, (HOUSE OF BONES) a tale of the young Brazilian poet ADRIANO VILLA. The album was released in Brazil in October 2003, and is scheduled for European release February 9th, 2004.
HOUSE OF BONES also features contributions by ANGRA vocalist EDUARDO FALASHI, ETERNA singer LEANDRO CACOILO, and CHARLES DALLA, the keyboard player of the veteran band WIZARDS.
VersOver have successfully blended such diverse elements as classic metal, a little NWOBHM, heavy-thrash-riffs, galloping bass-lines, aggressive vocal delivery poured over soaring melody lines sprinkled with duelling solos. The resulting sound is very distinctive, very VersOver.
