  BIOGRAPHY

Emerging from the ashes of DEATH ANGEL, one of the most influential heavy metal bands that originated from the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980's, SWARM is poised to blast a new musical beachhead.

The Seventies were no doubt of inspirational importance for SWARM, as manifested by their particular songwriting talents, which also occasionally contain whiffs of hard rocking acts of diverse plumage, such as; AC/DC, LED ZEPPELIN, AEROSMITH, VAN HALEN, BLACK SABBATH, QUEEN and MOTORHEAD. Neither does the band hide it’s musical affection for a wide range of great artists one would not readily associate with the heavy metal world, ranging from BOB MARLEY, STEVIE WONDER, JANIS JOPLIN, THE DOORS, JIMI HENDRIX to DISCHARGE, GBH, with some STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN, NICK CAVE, ALICE IN CHAINS, SOUNDGARDEN – and would you believe TOM WAITS - thrown in for good measure. Somehow all these influences are synthesized into a unique brand of heavy rock music. SWARM-metal ?

SWARM includes three of the four member of the illustrious DEATH ANGEL; ROB CAVESTANY on guitars, ANDY GALEON on drums, and vocalist MARK OSEGUEDA. The line-up is completed by non-DEATH ANGEL bassist MICHAEL ISAIAH.

Possessed with the same fire and passion that invigorated their previous bands, SWARM has been playing for increasingly excited audiences around the Californian Bay Area and looking for opportunities to spread their music around the country and across the world.

Although the demise of DEATH ANGEL, THE ORGANIZATION and other predecessors left their scars, SWARM is energized by the music they've created and the response of their ever-expanding fan base. Recent live shows by SWARM include performances at The Exotic Erotic Ball with MORTORHEAD, at the Cow Palace, The Fillmore Auditorium, The Viper Room, The Great American Music Hall, Bottom of the Hill and at a recent Paradise Lounge performance, KIRK HAMMETT of METALLICA joined SWARM on stage for two songs. Other sightings at SWARM'S high energy and refreshing live shows include LES CLAYPOOL of PRIMUS, ERIC KRETZ of The STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, and JERRY CANTRELL, previously with ALICIE IN CHAINS. In April of this year ANDRE VERHUIJSEN invited - a reunited for the occasion - DEATH ANGEL to headline the DYNAMO OPEN AIR FESTIVAL, and ideal opportunity for their alter egos; SWARM, to bestow their supercharged musical attitude of thrash and punk upon an unsuspecting European audience. Several members of the MAUSOLEUM RECORDS A&R staff where amongst the audience, and a few weeks later the label inked a deal with the band for release of their first album: BEYOND THE END, expected for release early November 2002.
