Torch, hailing from Eskilstuna, Sweden, is a mighty powerful, traditional Heavy Metal act that garnered heaps of praise in their time. The band was formed in 1980 by guitarists Chris First and Steve Streaker, with Ian Greg on bass and Claus Wildt behind the drum. For a short while Stefan Wedlund was the vocalist, but he was soon replaced by Dan Dark, who became the "voice" of Torch.

Torch released their debut EP "Fireraiser" on Mausoleum Records in 1982. The record was an instant critical and commercial success which enabled the band to tour around Europe, and play a bunch of festivals, in those days with the likes of Warlock (featuring Doro) and Mot?rhead. A year later they issued a self-titled album and finally the 1984 effort "Elektrikiss". Despite continuously scoring favourable press coverage throughout Europe the group folded sometime during 1985. Claus Wildt relocated to America to join Masi, while Chris First and Steve Streaker joined Crystal Pride, and Dan Dark fronted a cover act.

After a 20-year hiatus Dan Dark started to plan some reunion shows. Dan contacted the other guys from the original line-up but, for various reasons, none of them could or would re-join Torch. So "dapper" Dan set out by himself and put in the time and effort to once more set flame to the Torch. Ultimately Dan enlisted bass player Alx Jonsson (Fatale Smile), guitarist Tomi Peltonen (Griffen) and drummer Kristian Huotari (Scaar) to and get the old metal machine rolling again.

They played the "Keep It True" festival in Germany, and had so much success they decided to definitely keep going, and even record new material. So now the time has come for Torch to unleash "Dark Sinner," a brand-new album, featuring re-recorded versions of the band's classic anthems as well as two never-before-released cuts.

Following the release of "Dark Sinner", Torch will embark on a European tour, plus - by the time you read this - they will have forged some classic steel at one of biggest heavy metal festivals in Europe, the mighty Sweden Rock Festival, which took place from June 3-6, 2009.
